Calculating handicap

The following formula was introduced for the calculation of Handicaps at the end of 2004.

WINNERS
+2 Championship Winner (unless already on -6 then only +1 applied,  -9 being the Max)
+2 Handicap         Winner (unless already on -6 then only +1 applied,  -9 being the Max)
+2 Two wood       Winner (unless already on -6 then only +1 applied. -9 being the Max)
+1 Championship Pairs Winners (-9 being the Max)
+1 Handicap         Pairs Winners (-9 being the Max)
+1 100up              Winner           (-9 being the Max)
+1 Senior Cup       Winner            (-9 being the Max)
+1 Monday & Tuesday Aggregates (-9 being the Max)
+2 Junior Cup       Winner (+2 is the minimum, they must be more than – 3 so that they cannot enter the Junior Cup next season.)

RUNNERS UP
+1 Championship Runner Up      (no change if already on -6 or above. -9 being the Max)
+1 Handicap        Runner Up      (no change if already on -6 or above. -9 being the Max)
+1 Two wood      Runner Up      (no change if already on -6 or above. -9 being the Max)

There are no penalties for runners up in
Pairs, 100 up, Junior Cup, Senior cup, or any aggregates.

Handicap reduced
A handicap can be reduced if a player has entered three or more competitions & has been knocked out in the first round of ALL competitions entered.
However if the player is already on -4 then they cannot be reduced to -3, but if a player is on -3 then they can be reduced. This is to avoid players from re-qualifying for the Junior Cup.

Multiple wins in same season
Maximum increase in handicap = +2
Brand new Bowler first season of competitions = Scratch
New Bowler from another club with no Badges or Club Championship wins = - 4
New Bowler from another club with Badge or Club Championship win = - 6
New Bowler with either Middleton Cup / England or John’s Trophy badge = - 8
Existing bowler who qualifies for a Badge = +1 (Minimum handicap -6)

-3 & under
The Handicap Committee reserve the right to move anyone -3 & under to any other handicap position.

All other situations = NO CHANGE to current handicap status.
